Customized Automatic Powder Coating Line with Power and Free Conveyor
Flexible Powder Coating System for Various Industrial Metal Parts
This automatic powder coating production line is engineered for metal components with different dimensions, shapes, weights, and coating requirements. The system combines automatic powder application with flexible material handling to provide an efficient solution for industrial surface finishing.
The line features a durable PVC powder spray booth and a Power and Free overhead conveyor system. Workpieces are manually loaded onto the conveyor, automatically transported through the main coating processes, and manually unloaded after curing and cooling.
This configuration provides a practical combination of automation and flexibility, making it suitable for manufacturers processing multiple product types or workpieces with varying production requirements.
Main Production Line Features
The system can be configured with:
PVC powder spray booth
Automatic electrostatic powder spray guns
Manual touch-up stations where required
Power and Free overhead conveyor
Customized carriers and hangers
Powder supply and recovery equipment
Powder curing system
Cooling section
Manual loading and unloading
PLC-based production control
The detailed equipment configuration is determined according to the customer's workpieces, production capacity, coating specifications, and factory conditions.
PVC Powder Spray Booth
The powder application section uses a PVC spray booth suitable for automatic powder coating operations.
The booth dimensions and internal arrangement are engineered according to factors such as:
Maximum workpiece dimensions
Workpiece hanging orientation
Conveyor position
Number of automatic spray guns
Manual touch-up requirements
Powder recovery method
Production capacity
Color-change requirements
The booth can be integrated with powder extraction and recovery equipment to collect oversprayed powder and maintain suitable spraying conditions.
Automatic Powder Application
Workpieces enter the spray booth automatically through the conveyor system, where electrostatic powder spray guns apply charged powder particles onto grounded metal surfaces.
Depending on product geometry, the spraying section can incorporate:
Automatic electrostatic spray guns
Reciprocators
Powder supply equipment
Manual touch-up guns
Powder recovery equipment
Automatic spraying provides repeatable powder application for regular production, while manual touch-up can be added for corners, recessed sections, welded structures, and other difficult-to-reach areas.
Power and Free Overhead Conveyor
The production line adopts a Power and Free conveyor for flexible workpiece transportation.
Unlike a conventional continuous overhead conveyor, the Power and Free system allows individual carriers to be stopped, accumulated, released, and transferred according to the requirements of different process stages.
This makes it possible to:
Coordinate processes with different cycle times
Create accumulation buffers
Stop carriers at designated stations
Control workpiece movement between production sections
Adapt production flow to different product types
Reduce unnecessary manual material transfer
Carrier spacing, conveyor routing, hanger design, load capacity, and operating speed are customized according to the actual workpieces and required production output.
Manual Loading and Unloading
Manual loading and unloading provide flexibility when handling components with different dimensions and geometries.
At the loading station, operators position workpieces onto customized hangers or carriers. The Power and Free conveyor then transports them through the production process.
After coating, curing, and cooling are completed, finished workpieces return to the unloading area for manual removal.
For large or heavy products, the loading and unloading arrangement can also be coordinated with forklifts or other material handling equipment where required.
Typical Powder Coating Process
Depending on the project scope, a complete powder coating line can incorporate:
Loading → Surface Pretreatment → Moisture Drying → Powder Spraying → Powder Curing → Cooling → Inspection → Unloading
Surface Pretreatment
Metal components are cleaned and chemically treated before powder application.
The pretreatment process is selected according to the substrate material, surface condition, and required corrosion performance.
Moisture Drying
Following wet pretreatment, residual moisture is removed before the workpieces enter the powder spray booth.
Powder Spraying
Automatic electrostatic spray guns apply powder to the grounded workpieces. Manual touch-up can be incorporated where additional coverage is required.
Powder Curing
Coated components enter the curing oven, where controlled heating causes the powder to melt, flow, and chemically cross-link into a continuous coating film.
Curing conditions are selected according to the powder manufacturer's specification and the thermal characteristics of the workpiece.
Cooling and Inspection
After curing, products are cooled before unloading. Finished components can then be inspected for coating thickness, appearance, adhesion, color, gloss, and other project-specific quality requirements.
Custom-Engineered Powder Coating Solutions
Our powder coating production lines are not based on a single fixed configuration. Each system is engineered according to the customer's manufacturing requirements.
