Powder Coating Process
1. Surface Cleaning and Preparation
Before coating, metal components must be properly cleaned to remove oil, grease, dust, fabrication residues, and other surface contaminants.
Effective surface preparation provides a clean substrate for subsequent chemical treatment and helps improve coating adhesion and long-term finishing performance.
2. Pretreatment
After cleaning, the workpieces undergo a suitable pretreatment process according to the substrate material and required corrosion resistance.
The process may include several cleaning, rinsing, and conversion-treatment stages. The exact pretreatment configuration is selected according to the product material, operating environment, and required coating performance.
3. Drying
Following pretreatment, residual moisture is removed before powder spraying.
The workpieces pass through a drying section until the surfaces are sufficiently dry for electrostatic powder application. Proper drying helps prevent coating defects caused by remaining water or moisture.
4. Electrostatic Powder Application
The prepared workpieces enter the powder spray booth, where electrostatically charged powder is applied to grounded metal surfaces.
Automatic spray guns perform the primary coating operation, providing efficient and repeatable powder deposition. Manual touch-up can then be used for areas requiring additional coverage.

5. Powder Curing

6. Cooling
After leaving the curing oven, finished workpieces are allowed to cool before further handling.
